About the department: Investments Marketing provides global marketing of our investment capabilities to institutional, wholesale and individual investors. The specialisms covered by the team include campaigns, sponsorship and events, insights and analytics, regional marketing, digital marketing solutions, UX, as well as marketing risk and governance.

About the role: The Insights, Planning and Risk Manager, reporting to Head of Investments Marketing, is a pivotal role supporting not only the co-ordination for the global Senior Leadership Team (SLT) but also our wider activation. The role will be instrumental in much of our team's operating framework. Helping to understand and articulate our marketing research, co-ordinating our planning, budget measurement and tracking of our deliverables with a clear sight of risk across the function. This is a wide-ranging role supporting the Head of Investments Marketing across both strategic planning and day to day co-ordination of the wider team to ensure operational efficiency and efficacy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Insights: to help define and deliver regular insights and benchmarking for marketing and the wider business: Benchmark Aberdeen's brand and marketing position relative to competitors and provide gap analysis on priority factors. Deliver in-depth actionable client insight for marketing and leadership teams. Measure brand health and equity for Aberdeen Investments. Manage valuable and productive relationships with specialist external suppliers, including Broadridge. Maximise insight from other data sources (CRM, UK, Ops, social media, Website, Search). Ensure client and market insight is embedded into marketing and business planning.
  • Planning: ensure global co-ordination and integrated planning across activities. Supporting Head of Investments on global co-ordination of the marketing programme and regional plans aligned to commercial priorities. Ongoing and regular tracking against deliverables and key KPIs. Budget tracking and finance reporting on a regular basis. Reporting governance. Drive and embed a structured planning and reporting cycle across the team, aligned to corporate reporting and governance requirement. Working with the wider marketing team to deliver professional monthly and quarterly marketing performance reporting outputs to time, specification and quality. Establish and minute key planning and performance evaluation sessions. Identify agenda items for monthly and quarterly marketing reviews and wider issues requiring SLT discussion and decisions. Track and report on budget allocation and spend. Support the Head of Investments Marketing with ensuring high visibility of our plans and business impact, to drive stakeholder confidence and motivate the team through the celebration of successes.
  • Risk: Oversight of the first line Compliance, Marketing Risk team ensuring that all activities comply with regulatory requirements, including financial crime, anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and corruption, data privacy, and sanctions. Supporting the team to ensure activities follow the necessary rules and regulations, and they comply with legal and regulatory boundaries and jurisdictions. Managing our Shield log and related due diligence on any breaches. Ensuring a robust and timely address to issues arising.

About the candidate:

  • Experience of matrix planning: ability to identify coherent strategic initiatives and to translate this into regional plans that can meet the overall commercial objectives.
  • Experience of brand and marketing reporting: ability to present market commentary, KPI metrics and analysis of deliverables in a concise, transparent and structured framework.
  • Excellent project and programme management skills: The role holder should be able to plan, initiate, execute, control and close projects/programmes of work in a disciplined manner. Tracks and manages resources, timelines, costs, deliverables and performance.
  • Strong emphasis on people engagement and helping others to understand what they are accountable/responsible for to make processes work effectively.
  • Extensive knowledge of working within a broad multi-discipline marketing and communications function, with an in-depth understanding of the end-to-end marketing process and the resources needed to support greater efficiency.
  • Experience of bespoke or proprietary research methods with good analysis skills to condense, visualise and summarise large volumes of data for simple and effective engagement and recommendation.
  • Familiar working with secondary data points such as Broadridge, CRM, UX, Ops, Social listing etc. to add depth to client and market insight.
  • Knowledge of client experience and/or journey measurement.
  • Long term brand tracking/equity experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills: Ability to engage with and maintain good relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to senior levels within and outside the organisation. Encouraging teamwork and collaboration and breaking down boundaries. Good listener as well as communicator.
  • Experience of working within a fast-paced environment where decisions need to be made in a disciplined way and often under pressure.
  • Useful to have experience of working in Financial Services or similar highly regulated environments.
