About the Role:
We're looking for a skilled Project Manager to oversee highways projects under the National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework. You'll lead both active works and early contractor involvement (ECI) on larger schemes across the Somerset area. This role combines project leadership, stakeholder management, and commercial oversight to ensure smooth and successful delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams to deliver safe, high-quality projects on time and within budget
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and local communities
- Maintain full compliance with contracts, governance processes, and industry standards
- Oversee cost control, forecasting, and project profitability
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Mentor and support team development and knowledge sharing
What We're Looking For:
- Experience managing highways projects for a Tier 1 contractor (up to £15M)
- Strong knowledge of NEC4 contracts, commercial awareness, and programme delivery
- Background in civil engineering, construction, or related discipline (degree preferred)
- Understanding of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies (desirable)
- Familiarity with road construction, drainage, and infrastructure
- SMSTS certification and valid CSCS card
