Summary: We are looking to hire an ambitious individual to join our growing Human Genetics team at Insmed. As a member of our team, you will apply your expertise in statistical genetics to conduct exciting research supporting our proprietary technology platform of ‘Synthetic Rescue’ and direct target discovery. You will leverage datasets consisting of hundreds of thousands of humans to identify novel therapeutic targets and collaborate with our extensive wet lab team to drive these targets to the clinic. You will be a senior member of the human genetics team and contribute to building the human genetics platform at Insmed by developing our statistical genetics platform and leading cutting edge scientific research. Independently lead human genetics target discovery projects that require resource from multiple IIUK functions (e.g., biology, chemistry)

Conduct independent research on ‘Synthetic Rescue’ at the direction of the human genetics’ leadership team

Gain access to, curate multi-omics data from, and analyze diverse publicly available data from large biobank studies
-
Develop human genetic analysis workflows both locally and in cloud-based environments
-
Perform ad hoc analyses and function as a subject leader in support of ongoing wet lab / informatics projects
-
Partner with the informatics team to ensure reproducible informatic workflows
-
Work with the human genetics leadership to identify potential areas of interest for future research programs
-
PhD (or equivalent experience) and 5+ years of academic postdoc or industry experience in genetics, bioinformatics, medicine, biology, biostatistics, genetic epidemiology, or similar area.

Experience using common statistical tests and methods for genetic association (e.g. GWAS, gene burden tests, regenie, BOLT-LMM)

Understanding of meta-analysis for the purposes of conducting association testing across multiple cohorts
-
Experience in visualization of genetic data (e.g., Integrative Genomics Viewer)
-
Experience using remote / cloud environments (e.g., AWS, gCloud, Azure)
-
Experience building or implementing scalable human genetics pipelines to perform high-throughput analysis of hundreds of thousands of individuals
-
Experienced in working in a Linux or Linux-like environment (e.g., bash / shell / MacOS)
-
Advanced Proficiency in Python and R
-
Strong data processing, quality control, and management skills
-
Proven track record taking human genetics projects from concept to completion
Preferred Skills:
-
Knowledge of several bioinformatics and next generation sequencing processing and analysis workflows (e.g., GATK, bwa, plink)

Understanding of DNANexus or the UK Biobank Research Access Platform (RAP)
-
Ability to derive methods for quality control and cleaning of phenotypic data for the purposes of association testing
-
Knowledge of generalized linear modeling, simulation of data, and design of ad hoc statistical tests
-
Familiarity with wet-lab approaches for validation of human genetics targets
-
Knowledge of Proteomics methods and workflows (e.g., SOMALogic / O-Link)

Experience mentoring and teaching more junior colleagues statistical genetics techniques and workflowsStrong presentation, visualization, and communication skills
