We are looking for a Construction Manager for a 24-month contract based in Falkirk on behalf of our globally respected client who develops cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe, and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs.
The Site-Based Construction Manager will lead the on-site delivery of a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. You will oversee civil, electrical, and mechanical construction activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of works in line with programme and design specifications. This role is critical to achieving project success in the fast-evolving renewable energy sector.
The Construction Manager will be responsible for:
- Taking ownership of all site operations, supervising and liaising with the appointed EPC contractor for the grid-scale BESS project, ensuring all activities align with the construction schedule.
- Overseeing enabling works, civil groundworks, substation builds, containerised BESS installation, MV/HV cabling, and grid connection scope.
- Ensuring all on-site operations comply with CDM regulations, HSE legislation, and project-specific safety plans noting the appointed EPC contractor is both Principal Designer & Principal Contractor.
- Leading, coordinating, and supervising directly appointed subcontractors, including logistics and commissioning teams.
- Working closely with the engineering and design teams to resolve technical issues and ensure buildability on site.
- Reviewing site documentation including daily reports, RAMS reviews, permits, inductions, and quality checklists.
- Liaising with the client's on-site representatives, DNOs/IDNOs, ICPs, and EPC stakeholders.
- Monitoring progress against the programme, highlighting risks early, and implementing recovery plans if needed.
- Championing environmental and sustainability requirements in line with planning conditions and BESS best practices.
- Supporting testing, energisation, and handover stages, including witnessing and defect close-out.
What we require from the candidate:
- Proven track record of delivering grid-connected renewable energy assets (preferably BESS, solar, or substations).
- Relevant construction or engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree).
- SMSTS or equivalent site management certification.
- CSCS (Black card or equivalent).
- First Aid at Work.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant RRS mtu diagnostic equipment and support systems.
- Must be a competent writer of business letters, emails, and detailed technical reports.
