Hyundai Capital UK Ltd (HCUK) is a joint venture company established by Santander Consumer UK (SCUK) and Hyundai Capital Services (HCS) Korea in 2012. It operates under the Hyundai Finance, Kia Finance and Genesis Finance brands, providing funding solutions for Retailers, Consumers and Corporations.

Job Purpose

Reporting into the National Contract Hire Manager, the key purpose of this role is to develop incremental Contract Hire sales in conjunction with HCUK and our OEM partners’ strategy both direct and through the franchised dealer networks. The role will focus on developing the network’s Contract Hire capability to drive Business Contract Hire (BCH) sales funded by HCUK and that of any other new products or channels in the fleet business. Intrinsic to the role is the promotion of HCUK’s Contract Hire (CH) products, its value proposition and sound stakeholder management at all levels. The role of Business Development Manager – Contract Hire will be to represent HCUK brands as required in the Midlands territory.

Key Accountabilities

  • Under the guidance of line management, develop a sustainable and profitable business relationship with all allocated dealers, with specific focus on:
  • Ensure the dealer is equipped to offer our products in a compliant manner under current regulation using tools such as BCH online training.
  • Monitor the product mix, cancellations and complaints of the dealership and assist in addressing problems when necessary.
  • Monitor and report dealer performance.
  • Maximise incremental dealer sales by promoting HCUK Contract Hire.
  • Consider CH as a Trade Cycle Management (TCM) product and utilise appropriately to support prevailing strategy.
  • Integrate into OEM and dealer activity.
  • Conduct regular Contract Hire reviews with dealers to highlight performance and look for growth opportunities.
  • Deliver as required any new products or channels to drive incremental fleet sales.

Planning

  • Develop a segmented quarterly activity plan, agreed by the National Contract Hire Manager; detailing visit schedules, key focus areas during these visits and dealer agreed action plans based upon the joint strategic goals. These actions should be recorded using ‘The HUB’.

Budgetary control

  • Deliver the annual sales plan in line with the prescribed volume and profit requirements through on-going review, development and monitoring of opportunity within your area with your line manager.

Stakeholder engagement

  • Establish a sound working relationship with all dealers within your region at the appropriate level, as well HCUK internally, OEM counterparts, SCUK and the Contract Hire service provider as appropriate. A close working relationship with Underwriting (both HCUK internal and SCUK) will be essential.

People development

  • Working with HCUK’s assets, your expertise and that of the Contract Hire Team, essential to this role is knowledge sharing with and skills development of your dealers. Regularly review learnings/gaps to shape future training, to underpin incremental CH sales and dealer performance for both conquest and renewal opportunities.

Business development

  • Working in conjunction with line management, develop a clear understanding of Contract Hire channels, support levels, prospective and existing customers. Use this information to strategise conquest customers and retention to maximise sales and loyalty with HCUK and its OEM partners.

Competitor Activity

  • Provide regular feedback on competitor activity both within your region and nationally to assist in the development of new campaigns and strategies.

Customer retention program

  • Support Contract Hire retention initiatives by ensuring timely and comprehensive dealer activity and accurate feedback within your region.
  • Assist in shaping the customer renewal programs through providing regular feedback to management.

Risk and Compliance

  • In line with the company’s risk and compliance statement of responsibility and objectives, identify risks, incidents and breaches, in accordance with company policies and department procedures.
  • Ensure all activity, including personal data usage, advertising and communication content, are compliant from a legal, regulatory and business perspective.
  • Manage and motivate dealers to offer a compliant sales process which gives customers an adequate product explanation, a Treating Customers Fairly focus, to adopt a regulated complaints handling procedure and to carry out other compliance tasks as requested.

  • Influencing And Negotiating Skills: Able to engage with internal and external stakeholders in order to reach mutually beneficial business outcomes.

Key Expertise

  • Has worked within the leasing & rental industry or worked within the ‘captive’ motor finance services industry or has worked in a motor manufacturer sales and marketing environment.
  • Able to achieve/exceed sales targets.
  • Account management skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence both internally and externally at all levels.
  • Has an appreciation of legal, regulatory and compliance issues relating to the use of customer data and is familiar with the principles encapsulated within ‘treating customer fairly’ code of conduct.
  • High level of PC skills including PowerPoint and Excel. Good numeracy skills are essential.
  • Can produce professionally branded and robust reporting/presentations.
  • Excellent Time Management and problem-solving skills.

In addition to the above it is expected that any candidate is able to display a good understanding of the leasing industry and general market sector, can exhibit sound business acumen, have excellent interpersonal skills and is comfortable and confident when dealing with Senior-level management.

Other Information

  • This role is home based, and the role holder should be located so that they are able to travel within the Midlands region.
  • The position requires domestic travel, including occasional overnight travel.
  • The jobholder must possess a full driving licence.

  • Base salary circa £41,000-£48,000 per annum, depending upon expertise.
