The Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Team is excited to advertise a new Band 5 position in our School Age service across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset (BNSSG). This post involves working with pre-school children with complex needs and school age children with a range of speech and language difficulties. This would be an ideal post for anyone interested in developing a specialism in Complex Needs and/or Eating, Drinking and Swallowing (EDS). There will be the opportunity and support to develop EDS competencies.

We are a friendly and supportive team that deliver a variety of clinical Speech and Language Therapy Services across BNSSG. We offer regular training and CPD opportunities to our staff, a buddy system for new starters, regular line management and a regular meeting structure. Opportunity to provide both assessment and therapy for a wide range of clinical presentations. A large and supportive team means that there is plenty of opportunity for development and progression internally.

We welcome applications from Newly Qualified Therapists and those who are due to graduate in 2025. We provide the support required to work through and complete your RCSLT competencies.

To offer assessment and interventions for child or young person within specified area of clinical needs. To identify needs and work towards chosen outcomes as they relate to activities of daily life. This may include the individual’s educational, leisure, self-care, social communication, speech and language and motor needs and the management of the individual’s physical disability. To carry own caseload within specified clinical area. To provide a safe, client centred, effective and evidence based therapy service in the community setting.

You will work within the Children’s Service to deliver clinical activities, supported by a robust competency framework to children in clinic or school, and other settings such as home and early years environments. You will develop knowledge and skills in working with children with complex needs, including developing your competencies in Eating Drinking and Swallowing (EDS).
