We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Farm Trader to join our successful team with office locations in either Chichester, West Sussex or Sparkford, Somerset, offering flexibility on where the role is based.
We offer our customers a complete service from the supply of agricultural combinable crop seeds, game-cover and environmental mixes, fertilizers, feeds and other farm inputs for arable farmers across the southern counties. The role will also include managing purchases of grain and providing information about all our farm services including our grain storage capabilities at Shoreham Port, grain marketing, agronomy packages and haulage services through our own haulier, Churchill Freight Services.
You will need to be knowledgeable, keeping up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends and all of our products and services to be able to inform and advise our customers. We are looking for experienced Farm Traders with a sound understanding of on-farm sales, arable farming, and grain buying. Ideally, you will be qualified through experience gained within a similar role and able to develop a working customer portfolio within your trading area.
The role of Farm Trader is an excellent opportunity for an individual with varying experience of farm sales and grain purchasing to join our agri-business. You may have hands-on farm management experience or have held a role in a similar business making arable farm sales with a serviced customer base that you have been able to successfully grow. Regardless of experience, we require an individual who is highly personable and adept at forming long-lasting relationships with farmer customers and suppliers.
Knowledge of fertilizers and crop nutrition will also be advantageous, as would an agricultural background and understanding. Opportunities will be made available for FACTS and BASIS qualification if desired. A degree/diploma in agricultural studies, or an associated field would be advantageous, but not essential. You will need to hold and maintain a UK Driving License to carry out this role, as you will be required to make on-farm visits and other trips.
