So, who are we? Hello, we're IG Group, an FTSE 250 Fintech that provides cutting-edge mobile, web and desktop platforms that help our clients trade Stocks & Shares, leveraged products, Futures & Options and Crypto. We are ambitious. Over 340,000 people already use our platforms. We're global with offices in 18 countries and products in 16 regions. We're hungry to move faster, ship better products for our customers and grow our user base. We believe in high autonomy, and we want people who are looking to do things differently to create better experiences for our customers.

We work in cross-functional teams and are laser-focused on increasing the number of active clients we serve to drive sustainable growth.

Our Container Engineering Team is instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining our container infrastructure in AWS, GCP and Nomad, while creating tools that empower other teams to work more efficiently. We serve as key technical enablers, building automation and self-service capabilities that streamline operations across the organisation. Our Container Engineering Team thrives on making complex systems accessible to others, with a passion for removing technical barriers and enabling teams to focus on their core objectives rather than infrastructure challenges.

As a Staff Kubernetes Engineer in the container engineering team, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and operating scalable, secure, and resilient Kubernetes-based platforms across AWS, GCP, and on-prem environments like Nomad. You will lead the adoption of containerization best practices, drive platform automation, and enable developer self-service by delivering robust IaaS and PaaS capabilities. Your expertise will directly shape the container strategy, streamline deployment workflows, and ensure the platform is efficient, observable, and cost-optimised, setting the foundation for a successful and developer-friendly container ecosystem.

What you'll do:

  • Design, deploy, and manage containerised applications using EKS, ECS, and Nomad.
  • Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure.
  • Define and enforce best practices for container security, networking, and observability.
  • Implement auto-scaling solutions using Karpenter, Cluster Autoscaler, or custom scaling policies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to container orchestration and workload performance.
  • Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and SRE teams to enhance the container platform.
  • Handling cloud-based environments - Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Drive initiatives to identify the right set of cloud technologies/providers to be used for specific types of solutions and drive the effort to templatize and automate those technologies to be used at scale in all products and applications across the organisation.
  • Define and implement the relevant monitoring and alerting.

We try to take a thoughtful approach to our ways of working as a company. We follow a hybrid working model with 3 days in the office - which we think balances the need to collaborate effectively and connect with each other.

When it comes to how we deliver, there are 5 things we want everyone to do to drive high performance, better learning and career satisfaction:

  • Lead and Inspire: Drives trust, alignment, and enthusiasm
  • Think Big: Focus on the problems that most impact commercial outcomes
  • Champion the client: Understand and prioritise the client's needs
  • Deliver at pace: Push for fast, sustainable growth;
  • Raise the bar: Take ownership, be accountable and share feedback.

We believe that diversity is vital to success; it fuels creativity, drives innovation and sets us up for global success. We're committed to building teams with a variety of perspectives and skills to help us realise our vision and strategy, that's why we encourage applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences to join us on this journey.

What you'll need for this role:

  • 12-14 years of experience, with at least 5 years in designing and administering complex production Kubernetes platforms. (CKA and or CKAD certifications desired).
  • 4+ years of experience in Infrastructure As Code (Terraform/Ansible/CDK/Pulumi).
  • Must have DevSecOps skills required (CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, Gitlab, Artifactory, Git etc.)
  • Solid working knowledge of networking technologies, AWS or GCP and preferably Hashicorp Nomad.
  • Experience in leading the design and architecture of the Kubernetes ecosystem, including competing technologies (deployment, configuration, scaling and management of containerised applications).
  • Experience in building secure and optimised Docker images, managing Kubernetes services (EKS preferred or GKE) and exposure to Bash or scripting languages such as Python or Go.
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or AWS Certified Kubernetes Specialist.
  • Experience with service mesh solutions (Istio, Consul etc.).

The Perks:

  • Your growth fuels our success!
  • Thrive with tailored development programs, mentoring opportunities with leaders, and clear career progression.
