Speedwell Coffee is a well-established (2008), wholesale focused, specialty coffee roaster located in Plymouth, Massachusetts. We are looking to hire a Head Roaster, to lead our production team, as we continually strive to improve process and quality. The Head Roaster plays a pivotal role in Speedwell Coffee's production. The Head Roaster will participate and coordinate daily production, have significant influence over key coffee decisions, and maintain and manage profile and quality control standards.
Our Head Roaster will have the opportunity to attend national coffee events, and also travel to origin on a yearly basis. Continuing education opportunities are encouraged and supported.
Summary of duties and responsibilities:- Daily roasting responsibilities on Diedrich IR-25 roaster to meet order demand.
- Sample roasting and evaluation.
- Coffee profile development and management using Cropster.
- Managing green coffee inventory.
- Maintain a consistently high level of communication with the team members.
- Lead quality control sessions with the owner.
- Ensure for a safe, proper and clean work environment, while complying with necessary food and safety guidelines at all times.
- Clean and maintain equipment and maintain standards for preventative maintenance.
- Aptitude for continuing education on coffee.
- Minimum of 2+ years of production roasting experience.
- A passion for specialty coffee.
- Strong communication skills and team first attitude.
- Prior experience with roasting tools such as Cropster.
- A desire to learn and the ability to apply and share knowledge.
- Must have a self-starter approach to problem-solving.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of roasting and lifting green and roasted coffee, including the ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time each day in a warehouse environment.
- Attention to detail and strong organization skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000 - $75,000.00 per year BOE

Schedule: 8 hour shift Monday through Friday. Climate controlled facility.
