The Project Engineering Manager is responsible for management of study and project-based engineering activities (Feasibility, Concept, FEED Studies, Detailed Design, and Execute activities), as required. The overall purpose of the role is to own the technical solution of a field development, from early concept phase through to project close-out.
Together with the TechnipFMC product groups, produce field development solutions and architecture which satisfy project requirements in terms of performance, function, economics, risk, operability and maintainability, safety, reliability, and schedule. Liaise with and be the focal point for the customer on all key technical areas of a development. Understand and discuss key technical, schedule and commercial requirements, project risks and challenges, installation, commissioning, and production operations associated with the field development.
Provide direction and leadership to the TechnipFMC technical team for the front-end and project execution phases of a project. The PEM focus will be biased towards integrated projects, detailed design and full system integrated design activities, but may be deployed on traditional tenders or projects, as appropriate. In addition to project delivery, the role will have a win-it responsibility. This will include lead responsibility for the preparation of technical submissions at concept and tender stages. The PEM may be allocated to tendering and other early engagement activities with a view to follow these activities through to project execution and close-out.
During project execution, the PEM is a project-based role directly reporting to a Project Manager with functional reporting back to the Engineering department. The PEM will support the project in the planning, allocation and management of engineering performed. This includes engineering performed by systems engineers, project engineers, engineering subcontractors and other internal engineering departments. The role is a technical management position providing technical support to a tender or project.
KEY ACTIVITIES
- Planning of engineering activities in the pre and post award phases of a project.
- Act as the focal point/key interface to the Client on project engineering issues.
- Coordinate and supervise engineering activities with an emphasis on design and system engineering.
- Prepare and coordinate Concept, FEED or Tender deliverables, as required to support TechnipFMC win it activities.
- Control engineering in accordance with TechnipFMC QA procedures.
- Ensure that engineering is fit for purpose and meets both project design requirements and TechnipFMC installation criterion.
- Manage and coordinate project gate reviews.
- Ownership of supplier design input.
- Ensure engineering close out and lessons learned are completed.
QUALIFICATIONS (Professional, Technical, Academic)
Essential: Structural, Mechanical or Civil Engineering or Naval Architecture Degree (BSc with honours, MSc or equivalent).
Preferred: Additional post-graduate qualification(s), chartered status with relevant professional institution.
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
Essential: Extensive experience in a senior engineering role in delivering multi-disciplinary engineering activities. Recognised as a specialist in one of the main SURF or SPS disciplines. Proven ability to work across pre-award, design, and construction phases of projects. Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams. Commercial experience including contractual and supplier management experience. Demonstrated experience in supporting studies and tenders. Displayed competence on multiple and complex projects working with a diverse range of clients.
Preferred: Worked with operators or design consultancy in Field Development and Field Architecture. Project Management or Engineering Management Experience.
