Overview

The overall purpose of the role is to provide support with regards to Academic, Quality and Registry activities within the School. The successful applicant will work with the Student Services and Academic Teams in timetabling, assessments, quality monitoring, and management of the Virtual Learning Environment. The role holder will also be responsible for providing support to students in accessing and utilising systems and processes maintained by the school working closely with the Director of Courses & Curriculum and the Course Leaders.

Duties

  • Academic Support
    • Support Academic Staff with administrative practices such as creating assessment reports, marking sheets, module guides and timetabling and scheduling.
    • Support the Senior Registry & Quality Manager by providing accurate and timely attainment and feedback data and analysis to the Quality Assurance and Registry Committee and the Learning & Teaching Committee.
    • Support key functions such as Exam and Awards Boards which encompasses collating and providing documentation, including assessment samples, mark sheets, board agendas/minutes and module guides, to External Examiners and other external stakeholders.
    • Alongside the Student Services Team, provide students with guidance, information and support with regards to pastoral and professional services.
  • Registry & Quality
    • Facilitate existing student support functions such as mitigating circumstances and student support plans.
    • Support student registration processes from the point of induction, and throughout the student journey, including creating email accounts, producing important letters, maintaining student record data, and general administrative support for the Virtual Learning Environment and Google Suite.
    • Assist with student and graduate statistical reporting, analysis and statutory returns to HESA and the Office for Students.
    • Provide other departments and external stakeholders with student data to support the work of various committees and working groups.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of School policies and processes in relation to Quality and Registry functions, such as mitigating circumstances, appeals and academic misconduct.

  • Experience
    • 1 year experience of administrative work in an office environment [E]
    • Experience of similar role(s) within the higher education sector [D]
    • Experience of statutory data returns to HESA and the Office for Students [D]
    • Experience of delivering reports and documentation with high levels of accuracy to tight deadlines [D]
    • Experience of managing change and/or adapting and developing systems and processes to support delivery of institutional strategy [D]
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to work accurately and with a high attention to detail. [E]
    • Computer literacy and the ability to use a range of software packages. [E]
