About the Company
The company recognises the importance of nurturing talent and building a strong succession plan. Their graduate sales and business management programme was established over a decade ago to bring in bright and ambitious graduates eager to learn about business operations. They seek individuals who are money-motivated and aspire to become effective salespeople and future managers.
Graduate Training Programme:
- First 6 months: Develop a core knowledge of business operations – warehouse, logistics, supply chain, administration, IT software, and marketing. Get hands-on with the product range and learn about manufacturers and the electrical distribution industry. Build relationships, make deals, and advise customers face-to-face over the trade counter, e.g., electricians, contractors, and tradespeople. Begin formal sales training, staying overnight with other Graduate Trainees. Complete workbook assessments to support learning and development, with financial incentives for passing them to standard.
- 6-12 months: Move to internal sales account management, engaging with business customers over the phone, e.g., construction companies, local authorities, housing developers, hotels. Learn business development strategies and how to target and win new trading accounts.
- 12 months and beyond: Progress to a business-to-business field sales management position, with increased earning potential and bonuses. Travel locally in a company car, meeting clients, discussing projects, and social activities. Work towards managing your own business within the group, learning staff management, purchasing, P&L, etc. The business operates decentralised, allowing local managers to make decisions that drive growth.
