The predicted salary is between 35235 - 37938 £ per year.

Working Hours: Shift - Shift is 06:00am to 14:00pm then 10:00am to 18:00pm on rotating weeks (Monday to Friday).

Working Type: Onsite Worker.

Salary: Starting Salary is £35,235 (Level one) rising to £37,938 (Level four) ‘pro rata for part-time’.

About the Role:

The Fleet Services team are looking for a qualified and experienced HGV Mechanic to work in the Shannon Workshop at Eastcroft Depot. The Shannon Workshop provides a repair and maintenance service for both the Councils internal fleet and a number of external customers, which includes a diverse range of HGVs, light vehicles and road-going plant.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team to deliver an extensive programme of vehicle maintenance, repair, inspection and examination. They will work to ensure compliance with statutory legislation, the legal requirements of the Councils Operators Licence, DVSA requirements and internal Council policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will also be able to work on their own initiative and to strict deadlines; at all times ensuring that a high quality standard of work is delivered. The role is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking local authority who are looking to expand their commercial fleet business.

About You:

  • City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Qualified to VOSA standards for HGV inspections and tests.
  • Possess a full driving licence with category C entitlement.
  • Experience of conducting maintenance, inspection, repair and test services for a diverse range of HGVs, light vehicles and road-going plant.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to meet strict deadlines.
