About the Role: The Finance function at Everest is expanding to build a strong foundation to support significant growth of the International Insurance business. Reporting to the Senior Expense Analyst, the FP&A Expense Analyst will contribute to delivering the planned Operating Expense Ratio, assisting with the management of international cost centres and allocation models, analysis of group allocations, and development of expense reporting and MI to drive improved business decisions. The individual will provide expense analytics on both a management and legal entity basis and play an important role in implementing and maintaining scalable expense analysis, driving efficiency and automation. The candidate will have a mindset focused on systems, processes, and data as the initial focus will be on building out the analysis and reporting. Previous experience of expense management and analytics, in the insurance or financial services sector is preferred. This position will be based in our London office with a hybrid schedule of working two days remote each week.

Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Working with cost centre owners throughout the annual planning cycle to set the expense budgets, including headcount and other associated staff costs.
  • Setting and managing the P&L impact, working with cost centre owners to understand and manage capital expenditure and the associated depreciation and amortisation.
  • Collating the necessary information to generate complete and timely expense accruals during the close process.
  • Producing monthly variance analysis for cost centre owners and business leaders to understand variances against plan, including setting and monitoring KPIs.
  • Developing commentary to explain variances and produce expense MI for management to explain expense ratios by region, product, and function.
  • Scrutinising the ledger and working with the central Finance Operations team to explain end-to-end expense accounting.
  • Supporting efforts to develop robust expense modelling and reporting frameworks, including the enhancement of Anaplan.
  • Supporting the business to understand the financial implications of their decisions, and drive both strategic and tactical thinking.
  • Building partnerships and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Working with both international and regional teams to ensure a strong understanding of allocations.
  • Contributing to ad hoc financial projects as required as part of the overall finance function.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance/accountancy is preferred, although candidates possessing a degree or qualification in a related or analytical discipline will be considered.
  • A professional qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) is preferred.
  • Experience of expense planning and analytics, as well an understanding of cost centre and profit centre structures, is required.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and operate efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and technical skills.
  • Self-starter, capable of working both independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
