The predicted salary is between 28800 - 48000 Β£ per year.
You will join a dynamic global Materials team and work in an environment that will allow you growth in developing breadth and depth as a materials engineer. The role provides the opportunity to gain experience of the materials, processes, components, and products produced by Rolls-Royce as well as developing key skills and competencies for further personal development.
You will provide knowledge and expertise and execute tasks on the development of ceramic matrix composite (CMC) materials, processes, models and analysis methods, the application of materials to the design, test, manufacture, and service operation of systems, collaborating with colleagues from Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering teams. Externally to Rolls-Royce you will also manage effective working relationships with our suppliers, supply chain partners and University Technology Centres.
Key Accountabilities:
- To resolve problems through evaluative judgements. Analyses factual information from multiple sources, interprets results and identifies effective solutions by applying their own technical knowledge, expertise and engineering judgement.
- Is responsible for defined technical packages of work providing leadership and delivery against programme milestones within agreed costs, timescales and quality requirements.
- To be a point of contact within Materials Engineering and to share subject matter knowledge across the function.
- To understand company business objectives and ensure that the work they do supports this; to act in accordance with both the company values and those associated with being a professional engineer.
- To actively promote, encourage and support the identification and implementation of continuous improvement both within and outside their immediate sphere and prompt action across the wider team.
Who weβre looking for, Key Experiences and any Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, Master's or PhD in Materials Science/Engineering or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience in the field of ceramic matrix composites.
- Knowledge of ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) or engineering ceramics and their properties, structure and process would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of the gas turbine engine and its components is preferred.
- An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking to a range of technical problems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral and the ability to build good working relationships across the business.
- Membership in a relevant professional body and working towards Chartered status is preferred.
