Who We Are

Since 2019, Fedcap have delivered impactful employment and health services to over 40,000 people across the UK. Recognising the transformative power of education and skills, and building on the pedigree of the Fedcap Group, this role will be responsible for leading on UK based education and learning programmes, to expand our impact further. Our initial focus includes alternative provision for young people and the launch of a skills business focusing on three main areas, including (a) clean energy skills (b) Careers, Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG), and (c) employability, ESOL, and functional skills. Through this integration, we aim to deliver holistic solutions that meet local and national priorities and empower individuals to thrive.

Your Role

The Director of Education and Learning will lead the development and delivery of UK based education and learning programmes, as part of the wider Fedcap practice, ensuring the UK becomes a centre of excellence for innovative and practical educational services. This is a strategic and operational leadership role, responsible for driving the design and implementation of high-quality programmes that meet the needs of learners and align with the highest standards of quality and compliance. The Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Fedcap’s learning offer, balancing immediate priorities with long-term ambitions. Working collaboratively across the organisation, they will ensure education and learning programmes integrate seamlessly with Fedcap’s wider programmes to deliver real, measurable impact.

Your Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and implement the vision and strategy for Fedcap’s Education and Learning Practice, ensuring alignment with DfE objectives, local skills priorities, and the organisation’s mission. Lead the design and delivery of innovative, learner-centred programmes, starting with alternative provision and clean energy skills development, while building a broader skills offer including within primary, secondary, further and higher education.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the development and delivery of high-impact educational programmes that meet Ofsted standards and other regulatory requirements. Ensure the financial sustainability of the Education and Learning Practice, managing budgets effectively and delivering value for funders and communities.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Establish robust quality assurance frameworks to ensure services consistently achieve high standards and comply with regulatory requirements. Lead preparations for inspections and evaluations, ensuring readiness and ongoing compliance.
  • Business Development: Work closely with commercial team to identify and pursue opportunities for growth within the education and learning sector, including securing placements on relevant frameworks and building partnerships with funders and employers.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, develop, and inspire a high-performing team to deliver innovative and impactful services. Provide values-driven leadership, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and accountability.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including DfE, local authorities, educational institutions, and employers, to maximise the impact of the Education & Learning Practice.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Advanced degree or professional qualification in education, learning, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in educational leadership, including managing educational or learning programmes and leading senior educational staff.
  • Strong understanding of Ofsted standards, DfE priorities, and best practices in teaching, learning, and skills delivery.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategies that drive educational excellence and align with local and national priorities.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a track record of building effective partnerships with funders, local authorities, and community organisations.
  • Financial management experience, including budget development and ensuring operational sustainability.

Desirable

  • Experience of working across primary, secondary, further and higher education, and academy trusts.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed or therapeutic education approaches, particularly within alternative provision.
  • Experience in developing and delivering clean energy skills programmes or addressing skills gaps in emerging sectors.
