This full-time role is based in Bath and reports to the Electrical Engineer within the Engineering department.
Job Purpose: To support the electrical operations safely and effectively through inspection, testing, repair, installation, upgrade, and continuous improvement of electrical, instrumentation, and process control equipment across the site. This includes supporting maintenance activities and ensuring continuous production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform planned, remedial, and reactive maintenance on electrical and control equipment.
- Apply fault-finding techniques to resolve issues promptly, minimizing downtime.
- Update and maintain the Rockwell Factory Talk platform, including PLC and SCADA systems.
- Install and upgrade electrical and control equipment to enhance system performance.
- Diagnose process issues and collaborate with shift personnel for complex problems.
- Work with the engineering team to improve methods and efficiency, and recommend CAPEX projects.
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and projects.
- Maintain accurate work records in the CMMS system and identify follow-up actions.
- Maintain housekeeping, safety, and 5S standards.
- Participate in performance reviews and training activities.
- Comply with company policies, including safety and ethics standards.
- Supervise contractors during maintenance and projects.
- Participate in on-call support for the shift engineers and out-of-hours support.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
- BTEC ONC/HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Electrical/Instrumentation apprenticeship with relevant qualifications.
- Experience with Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLC and SCADA systems.
- Strong fault-finding skills on process control equipment.
- Knowledge of engineering regulations (e.g., BS7671:2018).
- Experience in a continuous production environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with AC and DC variable speed drives.
- Willingness to undergo necessary training.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365; IT skills are a plus.
