The Opportunity
This is a strategic leadership role for a seasoned carbon and climate expert looking to drive innovation and impact. As Associate Director – Carbon Management, you will lead the development and delivery of net-zero and carbon strategies, support clients with operational compliance, and guide organisations through the complexities of decarbonisation and climate risk. You will have the opportunity to shape and expand a growing team of passionate carbon consultants—working across global markets and a diverse client base.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement robust carbon management strategies including net-zero roadmaps, science-based targets, and climate risk assessments.
- Technical Oversight: Lead GHG accounting (Scopes 1, 2 & 3), carbon footprinting, and life cycle assessments in line with global standards (GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, SBTi).
- Project Delivery: Oversee the successful execution of high-profile carbon consulting projects across multiple sectors.
- Client Engagement: Act as a senior advisor to clients, helping to identify opportunities and deliver impactful solutions.
- Team Development: Mentor and grow a high-performing, collaborative team of carbon and sustainability professionals.
- Thought Leadership: Represent the organisation in industry forums, contribute to publications, and stay ahead of emerging policy, technology, and market trends.
About You
- Education: Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 10+ years in carbon management, climate change consultancy, or a technical sustainability role.
- Expertise: Strong understanding of climate disclosure frameworks (e.g., TCFD, CDP), carbon accounting, and decarbonisation technologies.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, manage large-scale projects, and influence senior stakeholders.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal, stakeholder, and presentation skills.
- Chartered Environmentalist, Chartered Engineer, or equivalent professional recognition.
- Experience in carbon offsetting, removals, and voluntary/international carbon markets.
- Familiarity with digital platforms for carbon data and performance reporting.
