The Opportunity: Ashurst's Privacy and Tech Regulatory (PTR) team, sitting within the firm's Risk and Compliance department and closely aligned to the firm's CISO function, is tasked with advising the firm on its internal privacy and data regulatory requirements. You will be helping to drive the Risk & Compliance function's objectives relating to data and technology to ensure compliance and to enable and support the successful delivery of the firm's data strategy. While attached to our Glasgow office, this role supports delivery of the global privacy and tech regulatory strategy of an international law firm spanning four continents. Ashurst's further investment in its PTR Team will serve to better inform and strengthen key activities of the Risk & Compliance Framework; and support design and delivery of key strategic projects (amongst others, digitalisation, maturity of our data foundations and delivery of the Ashurst Security and Privacy Strategy 2025 - 2027).

The Risk & Compliance function is commercially minded and focuses on adding value to the business as well as the firm's clients.

About you: The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong knowledge of EU data privacy and data protection regulation.
  • A good understanding of other major privacy frameworks would be an advantage.
  • At least four years' experience of contributing to data privacy compliance programmes for large international organisations, whether in private practice or as part of an in-house legal or compliance function.
  • Ability to translate data privacy requirements into clear and actionable guidance.
  • Ability to undertake large, long-term projects, adopting a flexible and proactive approach to completing them and implementing solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all organizational levels across the firm and influence change.
