About the Role: SOAS are looking for a one-year replacement covering the History of the Middle East for a colleague who will be on research leave during the 2025-2026 academic year.
About you: You will be expected to teach and supervise UG and PGT dissertations on the history of the Middle East and related areas. The preferred candidate will hold a PhD in History or a closely related discipline and have gained some initial teaching and supervision experience. A strong commitment to innovative approaches to teaching and research and a collegial working style will be welcome.
About the Department: The School of History, Religions & Philosophies offers degree programmes that cover the histories, systems of belief and thought in Africa, Asia and the Near and Middle East. We are unique in the field for approaching these subjects from the perspective of Asia and Africa, rather than through a western-centric framework.
