The Role Working as a Fire and Security Operative, you’ll carry out routine maintenance, repairs and installation on life safety and security systems such as Fire Alarms, Emergency Lighting, CCTV, warden call and door access, ensuring the properties are safe and compliant on a range of assets owned by the MOD, throughout the Northwest region. Your duties will include:

  • Install, maintain, and commission fire detection and alarm systems in line with BS 5839.
  • Install and service security systems including intruder alarms (to BS 4737 / EN 50131), access control, and CCTV.
  • Fault-find, test, and carry out remedial works on a wide range of systems.
  • Complete accurate documentation and reports for all works undertaken.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and health and safety standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including on-site support and technical advice.
  • Participate in the company’s on-call rota for emergency response.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and other trades on-site to ensure smooth project delivery.

Our Requirements Due to the nature of the works, this role is subject to BPSS security clearance which includes a Basic DBS Check. You will also have:

  • Proven experience in fire and security system installation and maintenance.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • ECS/CSCS card or equivalent.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant British Standards (e.g., BS 5839, BS 7671, etc.).
  • FIA or equivalent fire alarm training certificates.
  • IPAF, PASMA, or other relevant site qualifications.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

The Package Salary up to £40,000 depending on experience. Working Monday-Friday 8am – 4:30pm (site & job specific). Door to Door Travel paid at normal time. 33 Days holiday inclusive of bank holidays plus your birthday off! Opportunities for additional overtime paid at time and a half / double time. Permanent contract. Company van and fuel card provided for business use. Salary Sacrifice Car Scheme. Company pension scheme with employer contribution.
