Are you an experienced and passionate equine professional looking to work in a dynamic and supportive environment? Oaklands College has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Equine Groom to become a key part of our thriving equestrian centre.

In this hands-on role you will play a vital part in delivering the highest standards of horse care while supporting the daily running of our busy yard. You’ll also have the rewarding responsibility of supervising and mentoring students by helping to shape the next generation of equine professionals. Position 2 – 24 hours

  • 3 X full days (2 days - 7:30am – 4:30pm and 1 day - 8:00am – 4:30pm)
  • 2 X evening checks (from 7:30pm – 8:30pm)
  • Shifts Monday to Sunday

Your Day-to-Day Impact

In this role, you will support the Head Groom and Yard Manager in ensuring the smooth and efficient daily operation of the equestrian centre. You’ll supervise students during their yard duties, guiding their learning and helping them develop essential equine skills. Maintaining clear professional communication with liveries, clients, and colleagues is key, as is assisting with the planning and delivery of commercial equestrian activities. You will uphold high standards in stable and field maintenance, and confidently take charge of yard operations when the Head Groom is absent. Championing the welfare of our horses will be at the heart of your work, ensuring their physical and mental well-being at all times. You’ll also prepare horses for use by staff, students, and liveries as needed, participate in regular team meetings, and always adhere to College policies—particularly those relating to safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity.
