In this role, you will serve as the lead commercial and trading analyst overseeing the largest profit and loss (P&L) segment within the AA business. You’ll play a crucial role in the team responsible for forecasting, analytics, and trading governance, specifically focused on generating new business for the Consumer Roadside function.

What will I be doing?

  • Competitor Analysis: Analysing competitor activity in the market (direct and indirect competitors) using a range of external and internal resources to shape the AA strategy and better understand market dynamics.
  • Leavers/Joiners Tracker: Creating and running a leavers/joiners tracker to show consumer behaviours in relation to key activities historically and developing forecast capabilities to quantify future proposed activities based on historical data.
  • Near-Time Reports: Providing near-time reports to stakeholders across the business.
  • Presenting rationale for changes in trading activity and offering suggestions for counter-activities to be implemented tactically and strategically.
  • Annual Forecasting Processes: Running the annual forecasting processes to ensure clarity on targets for channels (value and volume) and collaborating with the Director and Finance to align targets with good financial and commercial outcomes.
  • Business Cases and Strategic Rationale: Providing data to support business cases and offering strategic rationale to support the growth of key areas such as SMR, Breakdown, and membership schemes.
  • Collaboration with Research and Analytics Teams: Working closely with Research and Analytics teams across the AA landscape to maximise outputs without duplication.
  • Detailed Reports and Deep Dives: Producing detailed ongoing reports and conducting ad hoc deep dives into commercial areas.
  • Customer Flow Analysis: Building processes and insights to understand customer flows between direct and indirect markets, as well as across competitors.

  • Line Management and Development: Mentor and develop junior analysts early in their careers.
  • Accurate Reporting and Product Contribution: Deliver insightful reporting that significantly impacts product performance.
  • Creating Understandable MI Suites: Build user-friendly management information (MI) suites for actionable recommendations.
  • Numeracy and Analytical Tools Proficiency: Skilled in data manipulation using tools like Excel, SQL, SAS, Power BI, and Databricks.
  • Business Strategy Alignment: Consider both commercial and customer objectives, contributing to overall business strategy.
  • Translating Business Requirements: Review, interpret, and simplify business requirements into effective reporting solutions.
  • Preferable: Degree-level qualification or equivalent or experienced candidates who thrive in challenging roles within trading, analytical, or commercial teams.
