Claxton is looking to hire a Workshop Technician / Mechanic on a full time, permanent basis. Based at their facility in Great Yarmouth, the Workshop Technician / Mechanic is to carry out maintenance of CES Decommissioning rental equipment and work with fellow workshop techs to prepare equipment for Decom projects offshore. You shall have a strong background in either hydraulics, mechanical systems or working on diesel engines, and be able to fault diagnose across various systems. You will help to continually improve the maintenance techniques for improved efficiency within the department. Assist other departments when required ensuring all health and safety guidelines and Claxton procedures are being always followed. This role would be well suited to someone currently working as a garage / workshop mechanic, or in the marine industry. Full training will be given in any areas the candidate is not familiar with in their current role.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the refurbishment, servicing, repair and testing of Hydraulic diesel and electric Power Units (HPU), Control Panels, Tensioning systems and thereafter any other Claxton equipment as required.
- Ensure Decommissioning equipment is fit for purpose and ready for project operational requirements.
- To ensure that all activities are undertaken safely and to ensure that HSE legislation, company processes, policies and procedures are implemented and always followed.
- Input into preparation of generic written schemes of examination and generic maintenance/refurbishment procedures for various product lines.
- To perform any other assigned project work as allocated by the Workshop Supervisor.
- Inspection, maintenance, repair and testing of Claxton's hydraulic equipment in accordance with procedures.
- Perform periodic maintenance work on Claxton equipment as dictated by general maintenance procedures.
- Inspection and testing of all new HPUs, hydraulic controls/components.
- Carry out troubleshooting of failed equipment and quarantine items as appropriate.
- In conjunction with Decom Supervisor, develop detailed maintenance programs for existing key equipment.
- Attend Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) as required and as per Claxton generated procedures.
- Ensure all required equipment certification is current and up to date, as per general operations manual and maintenance procedures liaising with QA.
- Where and when required, subject to demands of day-to-day business; assist with stripping down & redressing of various Claxton/Client tooling & equipment.
- Assist with pressure testing in line with Claxton Procedure.
- Assisting other product lines where required, predominantly the riser department.
Required:
- NVQ level 3 or good standard of education, GCSE or above.
- Diesel engine servicing and maintenance experience.
- Working knowledge of oilfield practices preferred.
- Experience of hydraulic equipment and general inspection.
- Ability to read Hydraulic schematics and GA DWG's preferred.
- A working knowledge of Health & Safety, ISO9001 and QA procedures.
- Minimum 5 years served in a similar role.
- Experience of safety critical issues.
- Experience with AMOT safety systems preferred.
- Excellent engineering aptitude.
- Basic experience of using Word, Excel, Office 365.
- Excellent trouble shooting abilities.
- Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Self-Motivated and Driven.
