We are seeking a Senior Lighting Artist with a creative and technical approach to lighting characters and environments based on vision and provided references. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of real-time and pre-rendered lighting principles. This is a hybrid work opportunity. Please note that during the 90-day probationary period, this position will require working US East Coast hours.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understanding of basic lighting principles and ability to mimic established lighting setup
- Blending, compositing, and lighting all elements for marketing imagery
- Ensure aesthetic continuity is maintained across all deliverables
- Knowledge of Photoshop and After Effects is mandatory
- Basic knowledge of Unreal Engine is preferred – all lighting assignments will utilize Unreal Engine
- 5+ years experience of lighting of CG characters and/or scenes for cinematics, with some in Unreal Engine
- Solid understanding of lighting, particle systems, post-processes, material setup and general workflows inside UE
- A solid understanding of lighting of characters and scenes for cinematics
- Must possess a strong sense of visual quality, composition, color theory, lighting, perspective, and scale
- Proficiency with Maya, Substance, Photoshop and equivalent software
- Proficiency with Unreal Engine and Perforce (p4v), and excellent understanding of tools and development & implementation of lighting systems and post-process effects
- Thorough understanding of real-time, and pre-rendered lighting techniques (including vertex lighting, dynamic lights, subsurface scattering, HDR, lumen, and pre-baked light maps)
- Knowledge of roto, paint, keying, clean-up, and color correction is preferred
- Excellent understanding of techniques and technologies related to CG rendering and compositing
- Strong organizational skills in order to keep track of complex and vast lighting solutions
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
- A strong team player who takes direction and constructive feedback well
- Must be able to complete tasks on tight deadlines and work in a fast paced environment
- Knowledge of virtual production integration for film and television is a plus
