Contractor Escorts are needed at HMP Norwich Prison to escort building contractors around the prison.
As one of the leading agency suppliers to the HMP Prison Service, for the provision of maintenance trades & support operatives, Hays is seeking to recruit Contractor Escorts to accompany building contractors around H.M.P Norwich prison.
Although this will start as a temporary role, you will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent position or other roles within the prison service during this time. It is likely that the duration will be extended. However, that will be based on the works being completed on time by the building contractor involved, but expected to be no less than 3 years.
As part of the security team, you will be responsible for assisting with the safety and security of the establishment, where your duties will include escorting visitors and building contractors, as well as gate duties within the prison and outside areas. You will ensure the safety and security of the visitors, staff and prisoners within a prison establishment whilst people from outside the prison service are on-site. You will also ensure that no unauthorised persons or items enter the establishment.
Your duties will be to escort contractors, visitors and vehicles in and around the prison, making sure that nobody / anything goes in or out of the prison without authorisation. A major part of your role is to ensure that any tools that the tradesmen bring into the prison are also taken out, as tools going missing in any prison environment is unacceptable.
Although no formal qualifications or previous experience is required for this role, the nature of the Contractor Escort position requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks. You will also need to be reliable and consistent, level-headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills.

Full training is provided by the establishment/department, which is fully paid for.
A security check on yourself will be carried out. However, this can be done fairly quickly and should allow you to start within 2 weeks, depending on your own situation.
You will work Monday-Thursday, 8.00am – 5.00pm and Friday 8.00am – 4.00pm.
