Synechron is looking for an experienced DB2 LUW System Database Administrator to work on a long term programme of work for a well known financial, global institution. The role provides primary system DBA support for DB2 LUW database platforms, in support of multiple business and country units. Working on rotation with a US counterpart, the role covers UK hours with alternate weeks on 24/7 call (infrequent out of hours issues predicted).
ROLE:
- Responsible for DBA administrative activities
- Participate in physical design, creation, and maintenance of databases
- Apply table and view modifications
- Monitor and tune database performance
- Consult in design of efficient tables and indexes
- Provide recovery of databases as necessary
- Maintain security of databases by granting and revoking of privileges
- Carry out entitlement reviews at the request of business units or GTS
- Utilise Database Utilities for the DBMS
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2 or more years technical support experience in DB2 LUW Distributed databases on Linux
- Experience with DB2, TOAD, BMC/CDB, IBM Utilities, and Linux
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and technical knowledge
- Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
- Flexibility to work on call, alternate weeks
