Do you share our Health Board values Caring for each other, Working together, Always improving? If so, we would love for you to come and work for Swansea Bay University Health Board. The post is a Senior Clinical Fellow (equivalent to ST3, ideal for candidates who have completed a core training post in ENT and wish to develop their skills in this area). The successful candidate will be part of the ENT middle grade rota 1 in 6 (prospective cover) and will be required to participate in team working with supervision from more than one consultant.
Individuals will be required to undertake duties in CAS clinics, outpatient clinics and assist in theatres. You will be expected to deputise for absent colleagues and in exceptional, unforeseen circumstances may have to perform additional duties to ensure the safe running of the department. Where such duties take place outside your normal contracted duties, you will receive either an equivalent off duty period or will be remunerated appropriately. You will provide advice to clinicians in hospital and primary care, originating either from telephone calls or ward referrals.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be required to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary Clinical Team to promote the safety and well-being of the patients, under the supervision of an ENT Consultant. This is a permanent post and will be required to work on a Full/Part Time basis and therefore will be contracted to work basic 40 hours per week plus additional hours for on call rota (Average 48 hours per week). Salary will be confirmed in advert.
The service works closely with our partner organisations, both statutory and voluntary, and has established links with local General Practitioners. The provisional work programme for this post is attached and can be obtained from the rota coordinator following successful appointment to the post. This post is covered by the National Health Service Terms & Conditions of Service Specialty Doctor (Wales). Details of these may be obtained from the Medical HR Department.

We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science. The Health Board has three major hospitals providing a range of services: Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot.
Mental Health and learning Disabilities services are provided both in hospital settings (Cefn Coed Hospital, Swansea Caswell clinic and Taith Newydd at Glanrhyd Bridgend) and other community settings. We also have community hospital and primary care resource centres providing clinical services outside the main hospitals. The Health Board is part of A Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH), which is a partnership with Hywel Dda UHB and Swansea University, aimed at improving the wellbeing and wealth of Southwest Wales.

Qualifications
- Essential: Full GMC Registration with a license to practice; Minimum of four years in the registrar or staff grade and/or specialty doctor grade, at least two of which have been in the appropriate specialty or as fixed-term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty or equivalent experience/competencies.
- Desirable: Certification or instructor status in ATLS, ALS, APLS, EPLS, MIMMS; Further relevant degree/diploma/teaching qualification.
Experience
- Essential: Evidence of working effectively as a part of a multidisciplinary team; Commitment to team approach and multi-disciplinary working; Liaison with other agencies; Teaching and training of post/undergraduate medical staff; Evidence of participation in, progressing and completing audit.
- Desirable: Experience of research in ENT/Otolaryngology; Previous experience of working in the NHS/experience of NHS working practices and systems.
Skills and Abilities
- Essential: Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance.
