Axcis Education are working closely to support an SEMH school in Torbay for pupils who have social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). The special school are looking for a learning support assistant to start in September 2025. The school hours are 8.50-3.00 and the rate of pay for this position is £12.85-£15 p/h, depending on your experience and qualifications. This is a permanent position.

The school exhibits a wide range of both social, emotional, and mental health and education needs, which can inhibit their progress both inside and outside of the classroom. The school works on trauma-informed principles, providing a flexible curriculum which is centred around the pupils. The aim is for the pupils to become confident, successful, and responsible learners.

For this position, the school are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Experience of working with children
  • Bubbly, friendly and approachable
  • Resilient and can cope under stressful circumstances
  • A passion for supporting children with SEMH

The school would also welcome candidates who have additional qualifications, including:

  • Experience working with children who have SEMH
  • Level 2 Qualification
  • Level 3 Qualification
  • SEMH or trauma-informed training
