We are looking for an experienced and engaged Paramedic to join our operational leadership team at Gatwick. The successful applicant will be a keen problem solver, a caring individual, and dedicated to providing compassionate leadership to our frontline teams. To apply, you must have successfully completed a minimum of two years as a practicing Experienced Paramedic at Band 6 by the advert closing date. You should have the passion and drive to support your team in delivering the highest levels of patient care and clinical safety.

Main duties of the job include:

  • Ensuring the delivery of clinical and non-clinical KPIs at Gatwick.
  • Providing effective leadership, clinical and management support for your team, including maintaining welfare, supporting personal development, and reviewing performance.
  • Performing Operational Command duties, including managing large-scale and major incidents.
  • Acting as a line manager for operational staff, providing support, welfare, and development.

This role requires excellent communication skills, flexibility, and a high level of personal organisation to prioritise effectively and handle a range of issues. You should be an excellent problem solver, demonstrating flexibility in adapting to the changing priorities faced by the Trust daily.

The salary noted aligns with the Agenda for Change (AFC) pay scales. Successful applicants will be placed at the bottom of the band unless relevant NHS or equivalent experience can be demonstrated.

Following revisions to national legislation regarding vaccination (Vaccine as a Condition of Deployment), the Trust recommends that new starters in patient-facing roles be appropriately vaccinated unless medically exempt, to protect against COVID-19 exposure. If successful, you will be asked to disclose your COVID-19 vaccination status, including any exemptions.

All positions require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which may be basic, standard, or enhanced depending on the role. Details will be provided in the conditional offer. As part of the application, you must declare any unspent or unfiltered convictions. Shortlisted candidates will receive a self-declaration form to complete before the interview.

The Trust is committed to being an inclusive employer, supporting diversity, equality, and flexible working. We encourage applications from under-represented groups, including disabled candidates, and guarantee an interview if essential criteria are met. We support reasonable adjustments for candidates with disabilities to ensure fair and equitable selection processes.

Applicants must be over 18 years old. Many roles involve travel between sites; candidates must have suitable car insurance coverage for business travel. Due to high application volume, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 10 working days of the closing date. The Trust may close the vacancy early if sufficient applications are received. We recommend applying early.
