Are you detail-oriented and passionate about numbers? We are currently looking for a proactive and reliable Accounts Assistant to join a growing accountancy firm in Helston. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to progress their career in accounting and finance within a supportive and professional environment.
The successful candidate must hold an AAT qualification (or equivalent), and have a minimum of 2 years experience working in an accounting role. As well as the qualification and experience you must have an up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation and accounting standards and have strong communication and problem solving skills.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Handling client queries related to Tax and Accounts
- Preparing Accounts up to Trial Balance for finalisation
- Building strong client relationships and ensuring top-tier service
- Liaising with HMRC for reconciliations and missing payments
- Chasing and checking client data for accuracy and completeness
- Preparing and submitting VAT Returns & Self-Assessments
- Handling Corporate Tax Returns, Payroll, and CIS
- Supporting Accounts Finalisation
- Identifying client needs and referring them to relevant teams (e.g., Tax Investigation, Mortgage, R&D claims)
- Conducting Client Tax Review Meetings
- Ensuring compliance with Money Laundering regulations
