The Rothschild Foundation is seeking a dynamic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join its Senior Leadership Team and help shape the future of one of the UK’s most prestigious philanthropic and cultural institutions.
About the Rothschild Foundation - Rooted in the historic Waddesdon Estate, the Rothschild Foundation delivers impactful funding programmes across England, with a focus on Arts and Culture, Community, and Environment. The Foundation also manages Waddesdon Manor on behalf of the National Trust—an iconic heritage site welcoming c.350,000 visitors annually—and oversees a diverse portfolio of properties and commercial ventures including a successful programme of public events and the Five Arrows Hotel and The Bow public house.
The Role - As COO, you will be at the heart of strategic and operational leadership, ensuring the Foundation’s commercial activities are sustainable, innovative, and aligned with its mission. You will oversee a wide remit including property, sustainability, events, retail, hospitality, and risk management. You will also serve as a Director on the Board of Rothschild Waddesdon Ltd (RWL), the Foundation’s trading arm with a turnover of over £6m.
Key Responsibilities -
- Lead and inspire a diverse team across operations, events, hospitality, and sustainability.
- Drive commercial performance and innovation across RWL’s business units.
- Oversee capital projects, property management, and health & safety.
- Champion environmental sustainability and risk compliance.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to shape strategic direction and cultural values.
- Represent the Foundation externally and report to the CEO and Board of Trustees.
