Are you an experienced communications professional ready to take the lead in a fast-paced, creative, and purpose-driven environment? We are looking for a talented Communications Team Leader to join our friendly and ambitious team for a fixed-term period of two years. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape and deliver strategic communications that support our corporate priorities and strengthen the council's public profile. From managing high-profile campaigns to leading a small but dedicated team, no two days are the same.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading and coordinating a busy communications team delivering proactive PR, internal communications, events, and digital content.
- Managing communications projects that support the council's Corporate Plan, major events, and service transformation.
- Acting as a key advisor to senior officers and elected members on media handling and communications strategy.
- Leading our response to media enquiries and supporting the council's reputation through thoughtful and timely PR.
- Planning and delivering engaging, multi-channel campaigns that speak directly to our communities.
What we’re looking for:
- A communications or PR professional with significant experience in a similar role, ideally within a complex or public sector setting.
- A confident leader with excellent people skills and a flair for motivating and developing others.
- Someone who’s strategic, creative, and can juggle multiple priorities while delivering high-quality work.
- A strong understanding of the media landscape and the ability to advise on reputational risk and opportunity.
