Role Overview
As part of the Customer Engagement & Planning function, the Strategic Planning & Pricing team shapes the future of our consumer subscription business. We develop pricing strategies, forecast subscription performance, and support growth through data-driven insights. Collaborating with Finance, Marketing, Product, Data & Insights, and Editorial teams, we provide commercial recommendations to steer acquisition and retention strategies.
Your Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end pricing and proposition strategy for The Times and The Sunday Times.
- Manage in-life pricing decisions like upgrades, retention discounts, and trial mechanics to maximize lifetime value and minimize churn.
- Evaluate and optimize commercial levers such as billing intervals, step-up pricing, and offer structures.
- Support in-life pricing strategies including retention offers, discounts, upgrade paths, and trial configurations.
- Analyze customer behaviours, market trends, and competitive dynamics with insights and data teams.
- Build and manage business cases for new propositions, partnering with Finance to set goals and track performance.
- Design and execute proposition and pricing initiatives from strategy to market, establishing clear roadmaps.
- Develop a test-and-learn roadmap with Acquisition and Data & Insight teams to optimize through experimentation.
Candidate Profile:
- Experience in propositions, pricing, or commercial strategy, preferably in a high-growth digital consumer environment.
- Strong analytical skills with confidence in using data and customer research to inform decisions.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to build financial models and business cases.
- Knowledge of multivariate testing and cohort performance tracking.
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills.
