NMS Recruit are seeking an experienced GIS Technician for a thriving fibre company based in the North West, You will supports the collection, creation, management, and analysis of geographic data to assist in mapping and spatial data projects. The role involves working with GIS software, databases, and various tools to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of spatial information systems. GIS Technicians are integral to organizations that require geospatial insights for planning, decision-making, and operational processes. Responsibilities Collect and compile geographic data from a variety of sources, including field surveys, satellite imagery, aerial photography, and existing databases. Digitize and georeference maps and other spatial data for integration into GIS systems. UPRN data collection and analysis. As-Built Production and Mapping activities. Maintain and update GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy and completeness. Organize and document metadata to enhance data traceability. Perform spatial analyses, such as proximity studies, overlay analysis, and network analysis. Create maps, charts, and other visualizations using GIS tools for presentations, reports, or operational purposes. Utilize GIS software such as QGIS, APX & Google Earth to process and analyse data. Identify and resolve technical issues related to GIS data or tools. Generate reports and provide insights based on spatial data analyses. Mapping functions to support HLD & Costings with Planning team. Collaborate with teams such as Planning, Sales, Business Intelligence and project managers to provide geospatial solutions. Train and support colleagues or clients in the use of GIS applications and tools. Experience Bachelor\’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, or a related field. A certificate in GIS or equivalent experience. Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS). Familiarity with spatial databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL). Experience with scripting or programming (e.g., Python, R) for GIS tasks is an advantage Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Prior experience in GIS mapping, data management, or related projects is preferred. Experience in specific industries (e.g., urban planning, utilities, natural resources) may be beneficial.
