Annual Salary: £25,500 per annum
Contract: 12 months fixed term
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (core hours 10am-2pm Monday-Friday)
You’ll be joining a team of passionate teachers working to write and edit Twinkl’s online occupational therapy content for educators across the UK. The majority of your time will be spent working with Content Writers, Editors, Designers and Illustrators and engaging with team priorities to facilitate the highest possible quality of teacher content for our customers.
Your weekly activities could include:
- Creating content for new resources which support the development of children and young people who are in receipt of Occupational Therapy
- Creating blog posts or supporting content with blog posts
- Keeping up to date with the changes surrounding Occupational Therapy
- Responding to editorial feedback and working alongside colleagues to elevate a resource to an excellent standard
- Checking content and providing feedback to other writers using your knowledge of working with children who are in receipt of Occupational Therapy
- Producing resources that respond to customer needs
- Meeting with other members of the team to discuss and develop new ideas
- Creating and hosting Teachmeet CPD presentations for educators and practitioners
In this role, you will learn:
- How to ideate and create diverse, inclusive, engaging and varied resources for children and teachers right through to publication
- How to check content and provide feedback for other writers
- How to work in ‘agile’ teams, allowing you to solve problems and change tasks quickly to meet deadlines
- How to collaborate with educational professionals based across the UK through our company focus groups and customer feedback requests
- How to apply your teaching experience to create new products from ideation stage to publication
- How to use Project Tracking software as well as other in-house systems to work as part of the wider Inclusion team at Twinkl
You’ll work with:
- The supportive and experienced Inclusion team
- Your own direct Line Manager
- Our team of qualified teachers, who currently write, edit and produce content for the Inclusion team
- Our amazing in-house design and illustration teams, collaborating daily to produce the beautiful, polished resources that Twinkl are known for
To succeed in the role, you will:
- Have a degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a qualified Occupational Therapist
- Currently or previously registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Have detailed knowledge of a range of Occupational Therapy practices
- Have an excellent understanding of the needs of occupational therapists, teachers and support staff delivering Occupational Therapy programmes within the classroom or home
- Understand the special educational needs community in the UK, knowing its unique pressures and current therapy trends
- Be able to prepare and deliver TeachMeet CPD presentations based on Occupational Therapy and the resources Twinkl creates
- Be a fantastic communicator who thrives when working in a close-knit team
- Be prepared to confidently work between different IT platforms, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and G Suite
- Have a drive for continuous professional development
We’re especially interested in individuals who also meet a combination of the following:
- Have taught, planned, or adapted curriculum content to support learners with occupational therapy needs - across either a primary or secondary (or both) age range
- Have experience in successfully engaging learners with sensory, motor, or regulation needs, enabling them to access and participate in curriculum content
- Have worked as an occupational therapist, OT lead, or coordinator within a school setting, and have a strong understanding of how to support students with a range of physical, sensory, and motor development needs
- Have supported students with a wide variety of OT-related needs, such as fine/gross motor skill development, self-regulation, and sensory processing difficulties
- Are trained in relevant intervention approaches
- Have experience embedding OT strategies into classroom routines and supporting teaching staff in implementing inclusive practices
- Are confident in creating and hosting CPD or TeachMeet-style sessions on OT topics for educators seeking support with embedding OT strategies in their classrooms
- Have access to a fast and reliable internet connection of at least 6 mb down and 1 mb upload (we recommend using speedtest.net to check this)
