This is an excellent opportunity for an entrepreneurial, commercially experienced business leader to join a highly regarded, industry-renowned company which has enjoyed rapid and profitable growth in recent years. From its current UK base and through an effective network of overseas distributors, the company has ambitious plans for further growth, which have been partly realised through the recent acquisition of a US manufacturing facility.
Privately-owned, our client manufactures and markets a diverse range of products which require detailed and innovative commercial leadership to ensure that the company remains at the forefront of their chosen sectors along with strategic thinking and collaboration to ensure that ambitious business growth plans can be realised.
Reporting to the Managing Director, who is the fourth generation of this highly successful family business, the appointee will be responsible for all strategic and commercial aspects of the Advanced Materials Division which is dedicated to the identification, development and commercialisation of high value niche products including Graphene, Carbon nanotubes and other 2D materials.
With full P&L responsibility, the appointee will be given substantial autonomy to manage and grow the business from its current modest base, both organically and through potential acquisitions. With particular focus on the Energy and Composites markets and full pricing responsibility, the incumbent will ensure new product and service development is a key component of future growth and will collaborate closely both internally and externally to drive forward commercial opportunities.
This is a senior and influential role within the company and the right individual will enjoy the opportunity to contribute to the overall long-term development of the wider business. As such, cultural fit will be of paramount importance, as will an entrepreneurial and international approach to develop and deliver this Division’s aspirations.
Candidates, ideally qualified to degree level or equivalent in Science, Engineering or a technical discipline, should demonstrate a track record of inspirational commercial leadership and strategic thinking, collaborative teamwork, a high level of integrity and a desire to build good relationships both internally and externally.
Experienced in small business leadership, along with the development and successful closure of new business opportunities, the appointee will demonstrate drive, tenacity, ‘presence’ and financial awareness coupled with exemplary communication & presentation skills. Listening, influencing and negotiation will all be key competencies along with excellent analysis and decision-making skills and a positive, enthusiastic outlook which will engage others to deliver exceptional results.
