The Associate Director, Merchandising will be responsible for creating and maintaining a balanced merchandise mix to offer the best in class assortment of product for the Ref customer. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills and an entrepreneurial spirit, as well as excellent communication skills. This is a highly collaborative role in which close partnership with a variety of cross functional teams is key to success. This person will be responsible for achieving sales targets, managing OTB, inventory, gross margin and net profits through product curation. The Associate Director, Merchandising will need to be data-driven and have an ability to combine complex analysis with market knowledge to produce actionable recommendations.
What You’ll Do:
- Research and assess the competitive landscape and marketplace to inform product strategy and provide insight into white space opportunities.
- Harbour a deep understanding of our current and evolving core customer base as well as the market.
- Manage the open to buy and advocate for additional / less OTB based on business trends.
- Meet and exceed sales and inventory goals.
- Identify and implement new initiatives to optimize weekly sales and margins.
- Develop and present weekly, monthly and seasonal line plans.
- Partner with design to develop cohesive monthly product assortment plans.
- Partner with design to identify and develop new product opportunities that will be true to the Ref aesthetic while also bringing in a new customer.
- Build and manage successful replenishment strategy for evergreen styles.
- Curate retail assortment and drive in-store allocation and buys to reflect category initiatives, ensuring appropriate inventory levels that will maximize sales.
- Partner closely with production and supply chain to prioritise business needs.
- Partner closely with Ecomm and Marketing teams to coordinate Go-lives, Newsletter, Waitlist, Site Merchandising and Preorder Strategy.
- Create compelling pricing structures while upholding target margins.
- Analyse product performance weekly and identify key styles, chase opportunity and franchise expansion products that will maximize sales.
- Manage and communicate reporting and selling results and trends to cross functional teams and leadership.
- Track SKU-level sales, inventory and outstanding orders on a daily basis and make adjustments to plans as needed.
- Communicate product strategies to ensure all cross functional teams are aware of ongoing launches and courses of action.
- Identify and improve workflow opportunities.

What You’ll Need:
- 5-7 years of Merchant / Buying experience at a retailer / e-commerce company.
- Proven business and strategic acumen.
- Analytical and Math Skills specific to merchandise planning.
- Strong Excel Knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working in a Women’s Apparel category is a plus!
