RCM Rail Operator/ Maintenance Mechanic

As a Silvi Materials Railyard Operator/Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, you will complete numerous tasks involved in the operation and coordination of rail car orders, while also working on the installation, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of production and production-related equipment.

Position Essential Functions Responsibilities

Rail Yard Responsibilities:

• Start up operations for overhead gantry loading equipment.
• Coordinate rail car orders, and devise loading sequences to meet customer expectations.
• Instruct incoming deliveries on procedures for off-loading.
• Maintain accurate inventory of railcar load quantities, and keep records of BoLs associated.
• Prepare and execute daily checks of loading equipment, along with routine checks while in operation.
• Minimise environmental impact of loading equipment.
• Maintain and use safe practices while handling, maintaining, and operating equipment.
• Use of proper PPE.
• Follow procedures and directions as presented by management.

RCM Responsibilities:

• Work hours as directed for vessel unloading.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, including pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Experience with conveyor systems and other aggregate handling equipment.
• Operate heavy machinery, including front end loader, forklift, telehandler, skid-steer, etc.
• Ability to perform physical labor as directed, lifting up to 50-100 lbs.

Qualifications:

• Valid Driver's License.
• At least one year of experience in industrial maintenance required.
• Possess a working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience in steel fabrication and welding highly preferred.
• Experience with electrical panels and electrical machinery.
• Experience in the maritime, shipping port, dock, or cement/concrete industry highly preferred.
• Knowledge of varied types of motors and their operation highly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, using diagram schematics and parts manuals highly preferred.
• Must have willingness to put in extra hours of work when necessary.
• Knowledge and experience with safety regulations, i.e. OSHA, MSHA, as they apply to the operation is a plus.

• Lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds on occasion.
• Use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects.
• Stand for long periods of time.
• Kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, stretch, twist, or crawl.
• Hear sounds and recognise the difference between them.
• See details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
• See differences between colours, shades, and brightness.
