We are looking for YOU - an open minded, self-motivated, and business savvy Senior Casualty Treaty Underwriter to join our Treaty underwriting team in London! About The Role

  • Assess complex treaties from both a quantitative and a qualitative perspective and deliver business insights based on formal, quantitative analyses.
  • Develop actuarial costings based on data available and combining this with external factors and trends.
  • Proactively source new reinsurance opportunities and optimize existing programs.
  • Understand clients' needs, motivations, and priorities as well as risk and capital drivers and align with company´s strengths in order to develop win-win solutions, using the full range of Swiss Re capabilities.
  • Take underwriting decisions in line with guidelines and best practices.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of holistic client strategies and action plans.
  • Build and maintain client and broker as well as internal relationships through engagement.
  • Stay ahead: anticipate and analyze future industry/economic/legal trends and contribute to (re)insurance product development as well as overall Swiss Re's Casualty positioning.

About The Team

We are part of SR´s Reinsurance Casualty Treaty Underwriting unit working closely with our other underwriting units, transactions team and various other business functions. We are a multi-national team of around 22 operating out of London, Luxembourg, Milan, Munich, Paris and Zurich and with a wide variety of cultural and professional backgrounds. Our work ranges from underwriting and pricing specific reinsurance transactions to managing the overall Casualty portfolio as well as shaping SR´s reinsurance market positioning on Casualty lines.

Moreover, You Bring These Qualifications

  • At least 7 years, ideally over 10 years of experience in Casualty treaty underwriting preferably in the London Market.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Financial knowledge, academic or practical knowledge of concepts of law would be a plus.
  • Numeric Degree preferred or equivalent experience level.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills in English as a first language or equivalent proficiency level.
