The Role
We are seeking a detail-focused Applied Research Engineer to help develop the next generation of algorithms at the heart of our system. As our product experiences tremendous growth, we need to ensure we continue delivering accurate insights in a rapidly changing landscape. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation and refinement are essential. You will work closely with our product team to ensure our algorithms and models accurately capture domain knowledge and expertise. Core Responsibilities
- Design, build, and test AI-powered experiments using leading-edge ML models.
- Build and deploy AI-powered microservices following standard design patterns.
- Implement infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to automate deployment and scaling.
- Statistically evaluate candidate systems against functional and non-functional requirements, optimizing for performance and cost-efficiency.
- Collaborate with our wider engineering team.
- Demonstrate a desire to continuously learn and improve.
Qualifications
You need to have:
- The ability to work autonomously in a small company environment, with initiative and flexibility.
- A rigorous, scientific approach to problem solving.
- A proven track record of learning and mastering complex topics.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working with Python and solid Python knowledge.
- A good understanding of statistics.

- Experience with command-line tooling and knowledge of Unix.
