About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Regional Utilities Lead to join our Highways team covering the North of England. As a Regional Utilities Lead, you will be tasked with aligning and managing the utilities team in the North of England, currently covering the A66 (Penrith), A63 (Hull), A57 (Manchester), A1/M1 CSB scheme (Leeds) in the pre-construction and construction phases. You will ensure commercial robustness within utilities and within the North of England of Balfour Beatty highway projects.
Balfour Beatty Highways maintains, manages, and operates major highway networks across the UK, supporting local authorities and creating communities where people want to live, work, and play.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading Highways major projects portfolios in the North, in all aspects associated with Utilities.
- Identifying pre-construction scope within each scheme (with respect to Utilities) and agreeing the scope with the Project Director.
- Resourcing the project to deliver the scope of works in agreement with the Project Director for each scheme, with budget accountability.
- Identifying contestable vs non-contestable works when considering approaches to Utilities diversions.
- Ensuring that Risks are inserted into the risk register for each project.
- Auditing each project in the portfolio to ensure adherence to BMS procedures on each scheme.
- Cooperating and coordinating with the Regional Utilities Lead in the South of England to ensure a unified business process, including creating training content.
