NES Fircroft is currently recruiting a Senior Process Engineer on behalf of a leading Chemical and Technologies supplier based in Runcorn, Cheshire. This is an outside IR35 contract, open to limited companies. Mon-Fri 37.5hrs per week with possible hybrid working.
Overview: Our client supplies electrolyser technology and electrode coatings for chlor-alkali and green hydrogen industries. Key to this business is the ability to provide process engineering expertise to design the wider plant into which the technology is installed.
We are seeking a Senior Contract Process Engineer for alkaline water electrolysis (AWE) projects, responsible for process design of the balance of plant for electrolyser stacks.
The Contract Senior Process Engineer will:
- Lead and deliver process design activities from conceptual to detailed design for AWE plants.
- Deliver process engineering for multidisciplinary projects to schedule, including FEL2/3 through to project execution.
- Provide technical expertise on AWE technology and hydrogen plants during projects and support bid activities.
- Participate in hazard studies, SIL / LOPA studies.
- Work with the technology development team to gain a deep understanding of AWE technology.
- Develop technical reports, design guides, process design document templates, supporting calculations, project CTRs, and standard project documentation.
- Projects may involve UK and international travel.
Key skills and experience:
- Experience in hydrogen or chlor-alkali sectors preferred.
- Experience leading process design activities at senior or principal process engineer level, for multidisciplinary projects from concept to detailed design.
- Strong knowledge of process safety management; hydrogen process safety knowledge is beneficial.
- Interest in developing a deep understanding of technology, applying first principles thinking.
- Experience with process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen, HYSIS).
- Chemical engineering degree, preferably chartered.
- Excellent spoken and written English skills.
