The Business Development Manager will be responsible for attracting new clients, crafting and negotiating contract proposals and implementing successful contracts to drive business growth for Fisher Scientific across Europe in Biotech and Pharma customers. This role will be part of a wider Business Development team, reporting to the Strategic Accounts Director for BioPharma Europe. This role is based in Europe and requires a French and English-speaking candidate.
Your responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a strategic growth plan, leading new opportunities across a geographical territory with a primary focus on pharma and biotech accounts.
- Adopt a process through proposal and negotiation, culminating in new contract agreements and revenue growth.
- Build a strong understanding of defined geographical regions and segments through in-depth research and analysis of potential customers and markets.
- Understand the competitive landscape, current competitive contracts with assigned customers, and the impact on our account development strategy.
- Own the RFP or tender process where applicable.
- Develop and present the internal proforma to key collaborators within RSD Europe (sometimes including the VP of Sales - Europe).
- Implement new customer contracts prior to transition to the segment sales teams and evaluate customer performance for contract compliance.
- Work with different departments to bring company capabilities and relationships together globally.
- Involve and leverage Senior Management as needed to close deals.
- Develop and deliver custom messaging, value proposition, and collateral before engaging with potential customers.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Proficient in English and French, spoken and written.
- A degree level education is crucial, with preference where the degree subject has a strong relevance to our business.
- Diverse experience in various sectors, especially beneficial in pharmaceutical and biotech industries.
- Understanding of laboratory equipment, consumables, chemicals, and distribution model is preferred.
- Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint a must, salesforce.com knowledge would be a plus.
- Outgoing and confident personality, able to effectively engage with customers across a range of settings including one-to-one meetings, exhibitions and formal presentations.
- Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and professional. Able to lead indirect teams towards a common goal.
- Demonstrate strong follow-through and the ability to see tasks through to completion.
- Full driver's license with travel expected up to 70% of time across Europe.
