Bodycote offers a $1,500 sign-on retention bonus, paid holidays, and paid time off. The position requires the ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and basic physical.
This position is safety-sensitive due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market.
Position Summary
Based in Ipswich, MA, the Quality Inspector will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Quality Manager to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):
- Accurately perform hardness and other tests and record results as required.
- Perform calibration of all testing equipment accurately and on schedule.
- Perform audits, weekly probes, surveys, etc. as needed or defined by procedure and/or schedule.
- May be required to complete conformance certificates and/or other related paperwork.
- Meet all specification requirements per BMS.
- Report any deviation, problem, or irregularity to the supervisor or management immediately.
- Practice and promote safety and good housekeeping.
- Perform other tasks as designated by position.
This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customerβs inventory and must perform duties safely and responsibly to prevent customer loss or damage. Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.

- Education β High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one to three years in the heat treating industry or related field.
- Must have a working knowledge of all testing equipment and terminology.
- Basic knowledge of commercial and aerospace materials and heat-treating equipment is desired.
- Must have some experience reading/interpreting blueprints/specifications, be detail-oriented, and possess manual dexterity.
- May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases are required.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.

- Must be able to work in a sitting and standing position for extended periods in an industrial environment.
- Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.

- May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone.
