Are you passionate about public safety, experienced working with banned breeds and dangerous dogs and ready to take on a unique and rewarding challenge? The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Joint Protective Services Dog Unit is looking for a Dangerous Dog Advisor to join our dedicated team on a 12-month contract. This is your chance to make a real difference - protecting communities, supporting frontline officers, and ensuring the safe and effective management of dangerous dogs and banned breeds across three counties.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing expert advice and evidence in dangerous dog cases
  • Attending and preparing for both criminal and civil court hearings
  • Supporting dangerous dog operations and seizures
  • Managing kennel contracts and overseeing dog welfare
  • Delivering training to officers and staff
  • Supporting investigations and contributing to performance reporting

What We’re Looking For

  • NPCC-accredited Dog Legislation Officer (current or recent)
  • Experience working with police or working dogs, especially in dangerous dog and banned breed contexts
  • Strong understanding of the criminal justice system and court procedures
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
  • Physically capable of handling dangerous dogs and banned breeds safely
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel across the three Force area
