We are Eversheds Sutherland, a global law firm, with more than 5,000 people across over 30 countries. We’re full-service with deep niche and sector experience. Whatever challenge, wherever in the world, we’re equipped and ready to meet it. We live our values, we’re purposeful and purpose-led. So although the world is fast-moving and rapidly changing, we see it as a place where everyone can thrive. We’re ambitious for our clients, our communities – and for you.

The Group: Real estate is at the heart of Eversheds Sutherland’s business and forms approximately a quarter of our firm’s work. We have one of the largest full service real estate teams of any global law practice and consistently ranked in directories worldwide. We apply real estate services to our clients’ needs across the firm’s sectors including Consumer, Financial Services, Education, Energy, Industrials, TMT, Health and Life Sciences and Real Estate.

The Team: We act for 62 of the FTSE 100, 58 of the Fortune 100 and 92 of the Fortune 200 and are also on the panels of 25 major international banks and several hundred global companies. Our landmark deals include advising Morrisons on the sale of its petrol forecourts business to Motor Fuel Group (MFG) for £2.5 billion. This deal included 337 petrol forecourts and more than 400 associated sites across the UK, which MFG intends to use for ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging development.

Our Manchester Corporate Real Estate team acts for a wide range of corporate occupiers in a variety of sectors including financial services, consumer and health. We act on all property matters for these clients from their most strategic projects (such as HQ relocations) to their routine estate management transactions (licences, renewals, acquisitions etc.) – and everything in between.

The Role: This is a hands on, client facing role within our core real estate team. You will have your own files and will take ownership of your matters and deal with them through to their conclusion. You will act primarily for a financial institution across its real estate portfolio.

You will report into a Partner and a Principal Associate and will also be supervised and supported by other solicitors in the team. Your duties will include:

  • Drafting and negotiating a wide range of transactional documentation including surrenders, lease renewals, licences and freehold sales.
  • Dealing with high volume, quick paced work and your own transactions from the outset.
  • Adhering to strict client key performance indicators.
  • Undertaking, reviewing and reporting on search results, title investigation and negotiated documents.
  • Providing real estate support to our corporate and banking colleagues on their projects.
  • Client contact – transactional and relationship management including feeding into weekly and monthly client updates.
  • Assisting the team on post-completion aspects of transactions, including SDLT Returns, applications to Companies House and Land Registry applications.
  • Use of legal technology to support the team and managing client and internal extranet sites.

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent academic qualifications.
  • Completion of the LPC/SQE is desirable but not essential.
  • A team player who is client focused.
  • Experience of dealing with your own case load and meeting and managing deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivation.
  • Ability to work under pressure in addition to being flexible and resilient.
  • Dedication to delivering excellent client service at all times.
  • Proficient on Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

We foster diversity of thought and the freedom to put ideas into action. We have an inherent respect for the individual. We have a strong belief in collaboration and teamwork. Sharing ideas, asking questions, solving challenges and meeting our clients’ goals: together.

This is reflected in our policies, systems and processes, and in our work with diversity membership organisations.
