We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer Contractor with experience in complex enclosure design to join our team at ESCO Maritime Solutions working out of Rugeley, Staffordshire. We seek experienced and highly qualified engineers who are passionate about solving challenging engineering problems to exceed our customers' expectations. Our company specialises in developing unique solutions for harsh environments across a diverse range of products, from deep ocean exploration electric field sensors to high-powered electric motors and converters. We work in integrated product teams and expect our engineers to be proficient in all stages of product development, from concept to delivery.
In this role, the candidate will collaborate with our Mechanical Design team and specialists from other engineering disciplines to produce mechanical designs in support of our defence products.
Key Responsibilities Of The Role Include:
- Generating models in CAD
- Carrying out elements of product design
- Contributing to the development of engineering excellence within the business
- Providing mechanical engineering expertise in support of future business opportunities
The Ideal Candidate Should Have:
- A degree or higher in mechanical engineering
- Broad knowledge of all aspects of engineering, such as systems, electrical, electro-mechanical, and rotating machinery
- Experience in manufacturing methods applicable to electrical enclosures, such as metal fabrications, castings, welding, machining, and corrosion protection
- Proficiency in Solidworks
- Good knowledge of materials
- Good knowledge of best practices in design lifecycle processes, such as gated design phases and design reviews
- Experience in designing to strict requirements such as shock, EMC and thermal
- Strong communication skills
