As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you must be able to think outside of the box and develop simple, effective solutions to complex problems. You will utilize software such as SolidWorks and Ansys, working closely with the design and build team in a fast-paced environment where quality is paramount. You will be responsible for your own work and also mentor graduate engineers and apprentices as needed.
Responsibilities
- Work accurately on projects to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity, adhering to design briefs
- Produce all documentation in accordance with company and client procedures, and securely file them
- Identify design issues and implement changes promptly
- Operate within the company's ISO9001 quality systems
- Manage safety by design, ensuring compliance with legal and company procedures, and promote a proactive safety attitude
Requirements and Qualifications
Person Specification
- Experienced and competent Mechanical/Electrical Engineer
- Skilled in SolidWorks, Ansys, and StaadPro
- Capable of producing accurate calculations, models, drawings, specifications, and O&M manuals
- Ability to produce Design Risk Assessments
- Ability to work independently when required
- Good understanding of metallurgy and fabrication techniques
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and training
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree qualified, preferably a Chartered Mechanical Engineer
- Experience in designing access and maintenance platforms/gantries; bridge gantry experience is advantageous
- Experience in materials handling
- Knowledge of control systems is desirable
- Experience in sectors such as Energy, Nuclear, Heavy Industry, Bridges, or Slip-forming
