We are seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing Assistant to join our vibrant Sport & Physical Activity team at the University of Sheffield. This role will contribute to delivering our marketing strategy and marketing campaigns across a variety of platforms to engage a diverse audience. You will work closely with the Marketing Officer, whilst playing a vital role in supporting the development of compelling content and promoting our outstanding facilities and services. This role offers an excellent entry-level opportunity to develop your skills and gain valuable experience in Marketing & Communications whilst contributing to the University's sporting community.

Main Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Marketing Officer to deliver the departmental marketing strategy by supporting the creation of impactful content for traditional and digital marketing campaigns across various platforms.
  • Support the Marketing Officer in developing compelling marketing campaigns promoting departmental facilities, programs, and services.
  • Support the Marketing Officer in creating website content and visuals that align with brand messaging and marketing goals.
  • Contribute to social media accounts by posting content and interacting with followers where required.
  • Assist in conducting market research to understand target audience and competitor trends.
  • Support the Marketing Officer to research and implement new and innovative marketing opportunities to ensure the best audience reach.
  • Contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the marketing team.
  • Maintain a flexible approach to work, which may include occasionally providing services in the evenings and weekends to out-of-hours events.
  • Support University of Sheffield Open Days on behalf of Sport & Physical Activity, providing prospective students with all the relevant information.
  • Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the position.

Essential criteria:

  • Have related professional qualifications or experience.
  • Competent user of email marketing platforms, digital content tools and the ability to create social media and web-based content.
  • Experience in using data and feedback to inform marketing campaign planning.
  • A working knowledge of content planning and creation.
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise your workload.
  • Work on own initiative whilst also recognising when to refer matters to senior colleagues.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic with the willingness to learn and develop your personal and professional skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Experience using advertising platforms such as Google and Facebook Ads, social media, emails, and website.

Desirable criteria:

  • An appreciation and understanding of the issues surrounding Health/Sport and participation in the Higher Education sector.
